NEWS, Highlights, Updates & Corrections:

-  here is the latest received regarding the JazzFest: "... it's no secret that Roscoe Mitchell is artist in resident at this year's Chicago Jazz Festival and will play his new compositions with 1) a big band on Friday night and 2) a septet on Sat. afternoon, among other activities. Guillermo Gregorio w/ a string quartet will recreate the Bill Russo composition "An Image" at the Cultural Center, and on Friday afternoon both Ted Sirota's Rebel Souls and Kalaparusha and the Light will play. Ken Vandermark and other free-thinkers are among the musicians who will play in Grant Park .... the full lineup in a week or so."

- meanwhile Pete is booking October at the Empty Bottle; Available Jelly w/ Tobias Delius, Michael Moore, Eric Boeren, Wolter Wierbos, Ernst Glerum,  Michael Vatcher on the 8th - thanks to Kevin Whitehead for turning me on to their fantastic album "Monuments" -

- the Velvet Lounge web-site is down, hopefully back up soon....

- please note updated link for Rotten Milk - Leadway, buddY, Heaven, etc.

- one recent evening, after jazz at the Empty Bottle and skateboarding in the night air to cool off, I decided to post some hysterical (in my opinion) opinions in an effort to liven up chi-improv - thanks to all who responded (one) - I never thought I'd say it but I'm starting to miss Weasel - upcoming provocative topics: "U.S.Maple - merely going thru the motions?" & "Liz Phair - ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-haa!" btw, they were playing the Vandermark 5 when I was in Uprise Skateshop's new location at 1820 N. Milwaukee - what does this mean for the future of America's youth? I don't know....
